Sometimes, superheroes come in small packages, and look more like beautiful little girls. Have you ever heard of DIPG? Neither had I until I was contacted by Quiet Strength to photograph beautiful Baylee, who is living with this aggressive, nasty form of brain cancer. Although there have been many advances in treating pediatric cancer, still less than 10% of children make it through two years with this disease, and less than 1% of children are still with us after five years. For more information about DIPG, visit Defeat DIPG. As a parent, this diagnosis is unimaginable. After Baylee bumped her head, her family took her to emergency for a checkup. They certainly didn't expect what the doctors found: a 42 c.m. tumor. A reminder of what is always true: life can change in an instant.
The good news is that as of the writing of this blog post, this munchkin's tumor is stable! Her next scan will happen in March.
With that in mind, I have a request here. This gorgeous little rockstar LOVES to get mail. Old school snail mail. Thanks to the hard work of her family and friends, she received TONS of cards and packages for Christmas. And by tons, somewhere around 4,200! Check out this feature on Fox8 news.
Well, Valentine's Day is fast approaching, friends. And I BET Ms. Baylee would LOVE to receive tons of Valentines! Doesn't every little one love to give and receive Valentines? And wouldn't it be great to give them to this most worthy Valentine?
So, if you would like to brighten this superhero's day a bit, please send her a Valentine to the following address: PO Box 347332, Parma, OH 44134. And if you would like to follow her story, please give a like to the Facebook page for TeamBayleeMarie.
